Welcome to the Geography Department

Earth from space

We live in a world of amazing beauty, complexity and challenge.  Geography opens the door to this dynamic world and prepares pupils for the role of the global citizen in the 21st century.  Through studying geography at The Archbishop's School, pupils will learn to appreciate the formation of places and landscapes, the interactions between people and environments, the diversity of cultures and societies and the consequences that arise from our everyday decisions.  In the Geography Department we strive to build on young people's own experiences, helping them to formulate questions, develop their intellectual skills and seek answers to issues affecting their lives now and in the future.  Pupils will develop distinctive investigative tools such as fieldwork, problem solving, statistical analysis, map work and the use of digital communication technologies.  Lessons are fun and engaging with the aim of opening pupils' eyes to the beauty and wonder around them as well as learning to value and care for the planet.
