Field work is an important part of geography at Archbishops and we take every opportunity to ensure pupils have the chance to see and enjoy geography outside of the classroom. These opportunities are spread throughout the curriculum:
1st Year – Every year, the first years experience two elements of the field; In the autumn term, each form takes part in a trip to Reculver (near Herne Bay), Sandwich & Dover. Later in the year, a second trip takes them fossil hunting in Folkestone and animal hunting at Howletts. Both are day trips out.
2nd Year – In the Autumn term, 2nd years get to experience Merton Farm, a mixed farm housing turkeys, cows, pigs and chickens (as well as the many acres of orchards surrounding it!)
4th Year – 5 day residential trip to Scarborough and surrounding area. (See the GCSE page for more information.)
6th Form – Residential trip to Norfolk and also local excursions, including Bishopstone & Reculver. (see A Level page for more information)
Many other opportunities exist for pupils to explore geography in and around school!
