SPORT AND RECREATION

In addition to the curriculum, pupils and students in the VI Provision play a full and active part in Sport in school and have been involved in a variety of extra-curricular activities, such as participating in the Tall Ships experience as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and enjoying a trip in a glider as part of a "High Flight" experience in association with Kent Gliding Club. In addition, pupils and students participate in the annual Kent Youth Games: this year we have teams competing in the swimming, archery, boccia, new age kurling and sitting volleyball competitions. Earlier this year three pupils took part in a Goalball tournament. Goalball is a fast growing sport played by visually impaired pupils alongside their normally sighted peers. Recently a small group of pupils attended a martial arts event at Dartford Judo Club. The pupils had the opportunity to sample a variety of martial arts and returned with several medals. In April the Archbishop's Archers took part in a tournament at Ramsgate Leisure Centre.
