Train like a professional rugby player whilst engaging with high level academic study to fulfil your potential both on and off the pitch.

Are you 16 to 19 years old and live in the Canterbury area? Do you want to play rugby alongside your educational commitments?

The Archbishop’s School is proud to partner with Canterbury Rugby Football Club to introduce the Archbishop’s Canterbury Educational (ACE) Rugby Academy. The ACE Rugby Academy will be joining the Sixth Form from September 2024.

As a player of the ACE Rugby Academy, we balance your rugby training and fixtures alongside your academic study at The Archbishop’s School. This course coincides with your other subject choices; a minimum of three A Level/BTEC Level 3/GCSE qualifications.

Open to females and males, players will train four times a week with professional England Rugby coaches and 1XV players from Canterbury Rugby Club. Following the RFU elite player model, you will receive two hours of rugby every day, including technical coaching sessions and bespoke rugby development. The training will take place both inside the school and at the home of Canterbury Rugby Club. Travel will be provided.

With weekly fixtures, coaching and matches, you will be supported by regular video analysis of performance development, plus strength and conditioning in our new purpose-built gym.

All players will have the opportunity to acquire an ERCA award in Rugby Coaching (equivalent to a Level 1 and Level 2 qualification) and the England Rugby Refereeing Award.

Excursions to Twickenham, home match access at Canterbury Rugby Club and a full academic programme provide a great incentive to join and be part of the Archbishop’s Canterbury Educational Rugby Academy.
