SEND

Introduction

As a school we always seek to find the most appropriate intervention or support for our students.

We are committed to providing the very best support for our most vulnerable students.

We seek to create an enriching and supportive environment in which all students can flourish and fulfil their potential academically, spiritually, physically, and socially.

We screen all Year 7 students using a variety of methods including specialist assessments, which underpin our identification of SEND processes.

These also support teaching staff in ensuring that we provide quality-first inclusive teaching.

Our core offer incorporates high quality evidence-based intervention programmes that cover all areas as set out in the Code of Practice.

The Archbishop's School has one Specialist Resourced Provision to support students with specific learning difficulties which is led by a specialist teacher. Lessons are tied into the humanities curriculum models and incorporate independent learning skills, assistive technologies as well as a small group setting to support the development of specific learning difficulty skills.

Learning Support

Our school’s core Christian values and ethos define all that we do for the support of our students with special educational needs and disabilities.

Our shared purpose is to develop a positive and supportive learning environment where all young people can excel and take all that they have learnt, socially and morally in to the wider community as they develop as young adults.

Our Key Aims

  • Ensure that our students have a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Have high aspirations of all our learners, irrespective of their challenges.
  • Provide a differentiated curriculum appropriate to the individual needs and ability of each student.
  • Ensure a person centered approach to learning.
  • Foster the development of confident young people who are able to live safe, healthy and fulfilling lives.
  • Develop a young person’s moral, spiritual and cultural understanding alongside their academic learning.
